Fatal Car Accidents Continue to Rise in the U.S.

Personal Injury Lawyers | Fatal car accidents are tragic events that affect all families involved. Unfortunately, statistics show that more U.S. drivers are dying in car crashes this year than last year. The numbers show that the number of fatal auto accidents that have occurred in the first half of 2015 have dramatically spiked in comparison to last year. By this time last year an estimated 32,675 people died in traffic deaths, this year that number has already increased by 14%.

Given that we have yet to enter the most dangerous time of the year on our roadways, the National Safety Council’s manager of statistics, Ken Kolosh, believes that we can exceed 40,000 deaths this year if the trend continues as it has been.

Texas and California have topped the list for increased traffic deaths, with Texas at 1,643 and California at a 20% increase from last year with 1,566 deaths.

With a recovering economy and lower gas prices there is a definite increase of cars on the roads. Though we have seen an increase of crashes due to factors such as texting and distracted driving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that “it is too soon to speculate on the contributing factors or potential implication of any changes in deaths on our roadways,” as they are continuing to analyze data from 2013. – The Florida Firm
